Spray Tans vs Self Tanning

Everyone loves having beautiful sun kissed skin so now that the summer months are over and your tan from your holidays is beginning to fade your left with the dilemma of applying fake tan. Everyone chooses different methods of tanning, if you are a fan of going to the salon and getting a spray tan or you’re a bit of a DIY girl and do it at home, here are the pros and cons of spray tans and self-tanners to help you decide.

Spray Tan
 Pros
  • Spray tans leave you with an all over even tan with no streaks.
  • Spray tans give your skin a more natural golden colour.
  • Your tan can last up to two weeks.
  • Spray tans can add body contouring (i.e. enhance the appearance of muscles and abs).

Cons
  • It’s not for the shy or timid since you have to get right down to your underwear and have someone spray you everywhere.
  • Spray tanning is applied using compressed air. This can be dangerous when used around the eyes.

Self-Tanning

Pros
  • There are hundreds of self-tanning products available, such as creams, gels, lotions, mousses and sprays.
  • You can apply your tan in the privacy of your own home.
  • It’s cheaper than spray tans as a bottle can last you up to a month depending on how often you apply the tan.

Cons
  • Using self-tanners at home can leave you with streaky limbs and orange palms.
  • Self-tanning takes practice and patience.
  •  Some self-tanners can leave your skin with an orange tint.
