New Year - New Hairstyle

Have you been stuck in a hairstyle rut the past year? Starting to feel the itch and you now feel ready to switch to something new? Getting a new hairstyle can completely transform your look and how you feel about yourself. So why not kick off the New Year with a new hairstyle? Whether it’s a stylish new haircut or a bold new colour now is the perfect time of year to try something fresh. Here are some tips you should keep in mind when going for a drastic new look!

  • If you are thinking of going for a new haircut make sure you chose a hairstyle that suits your lifestyle. Consider the time and effort you want to put in when it comes to styling your hair. So determine if you are a low maintenance or high maintenance kind of girl before you reach for the scissors.
  • Make sure to choose a haircut that works with your hair texture this will play a big role in whether a certain haircut will look good on you.
  • If you a considering changing your colour keep your skin tone in mind. Matching your hair colour to your skin tone will enhance your natural complexion.
  • Before you colour your hair it’s important to think of your budget. If it’s a drastic change that will have you going to the salon often then maybe this colour isn’t for you. Regular colouring can mean up to 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Go for a deep conditioning treatment to get your hair ready for colouring. This will make your hair softer and shinier, will hold colour better and will protect your hair from any possible damage from chemicals.
  • If you’re going for a new hair colour that is up to 3 shades lighter or darker than your natural hair colour trying on a wig is a great way to determine if the colour is the right shade for you.
  • Bringing pictures to the salon is a great way to show your stylist what you have in mind so you both can be on the same page. So go through that stack of magazines you have building up and get some hairstyle ideas from the A – listers.
  • Your new haircut should always match the shape of your face, so before you opt for the chop determine if you have an oval, round, long or square face as this will make all the difference when you finally choose what style you go for. To determine your face shape grab an old lipstick, face a mirror and trace the outline of your face, step back and examine the shape you have drawn.
